Volunteer Appreciation and Newcomer Welcome Program

 

NCSC organized a special function on July 30, 2011 to honor the NCSC volunteers and to welcome new comers in Calgary.  The objectives of the program were: to welcome the newcomers, to appreciate the individuals who volunteered in different NCSC activities and have interaction on optimum use of the casino proceeds. In the program NCSC Vice-President Bharat Regmi welcomed the participants and highlighted the objective of the program. Secretary, Naveen Subba, briefed about the NCSC activities and Event Coordinator, Shilu Ghimire acknowledged the events being held and the operation of the Nepali Cultural Library. The various participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity provided to get involved in such activities. They also put some suggestions on effective functioning of the organization and proper use of available resources. Some of the suggestions include the conduct of more programs for children and youths, updated information system for newcomers, publication of NCSC bulletin, organizing regular interaction program and creating a roster of mentorship providers. The program was participated by about forty individuals.

 

As a major part of the fund raising program, NCSC organized Casino Event on 26 & 27 July 2011 for the third time that involved forty volunteers directly, however many more had shown their interest to participate. The participants felt that the event was an opportunity to have fun, experience and a way to serve the community.
