Holi Festival Celebrated in Calgary

One of the most important festival, HOLI was celebrated with fervour and ecstasy by Nepalese in Calgary at Hindu Mandir on March 20, 2011. The festival of colours and blossoms of the Spring that also bears many ancient stories of Hindu epics is a great national festival of Nepal that is celebrated by almost everyone regardless of their religion and ethnicity. Even being far away from the motherland, the Nepalese in Calgary also celebrated this festival to preserve the tradition and the cultural identity.  About one hundred men, women and children from Nepali community along with fellows from neighbourhoods gathered at the temple and exchanged colours and greetings. It is believed that the combination of different colours used at this festival take all the sorrows away and make life itself more colourful. The program was organized with initiation and coordination of Ms. Indira Upadhyaya.
