Ambassador’s Calgary  visit and Interaction

 

His Excellency Nepalese Ambassador to Canada Dr. Bhoj Raj Ghimire had a three-day visit to Calgary on 18-20 June 2011. An interaction program was organized jointly by NRN-Canada, NCSC and CNCA at Centre for Newcomers, Marlborough on 18 June 2001. As a chief guest at the interaction program, Dr. Ghimire informed that the Nepalese Embassy is highly interested to work jointly with Nepalese communities who, even living far away from the country, are committed to make some contribution towards the welfare of the country and the people. He expressed the feelings of pain of being away from the motherland in a sentimental verse.  During the occasion, he assured all that he would always work actively with his capacity of ambassador and as a person to put forward the common issues of non-resident Nepalese. At the same occasion, President of NRN-Canada, Mr. Nava Raj Gurung apprised of the NRN activities, achievement and challenges. In the program NRN Alberta representatives and NCSC Advisors duo Dr. Betman Bhandari and Bishnu Subba spoke on the NRN approach toward the betterment of non-resident Nepalese and also the people in Nepal. 

 

The program was earlier started with a welcome poem by Mrs. Shilu Ghimire and welcome speech by CNCA President Rabindra Thanju. In the program, Ex-President of CNCA Dr. Binod KC, NCSC Secretary Naveen Subba, CNCA Vice-President Mr. Jhalendra Shrestha, and Board Director, Mr. Rishi Bastakoti, President of Sushila Care Centre Mr. Bhuwan Parajuli also expressed their views on different issues. NCSC President Mr. Jagdish Chapagai conveyed the vote of thanks on behalf of Nepalese communities in Calgary. The program was moderated by NCSC Vice-President and NCSC-CNCA joint Committee meeting facilitator , Mr. Bharat Regmi. The Mobile Settlement Program Team Lead of Centre for Newcomers Mr. Issa Mosa also welcomed the Ambassador and appreciated the activities of Nepalese community in Calgary. Eighty-three people were present in the program.

 

Earlier, the Ambassador was apprised of the activities of Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation (CAWST) in Nepal and different countries in the world, in a program at its Office at Marlborough. International Technical  Advisor in CAST, Dr. Betman Bhandari, presented different activities and achievement of CAWST in Nepal.
