 “My Country My Pride” educational program  and Nepali New Year 2067

An educational program for youth and children  with the theme “My Country My Pride” was held on Saturday April 10, 2010 on the auspicious occasion of Nepalese New Year 2067. The function attended by about 350 community members and guests was also graced by the presence of Honorable Member of Parliament Mr. Devinder Shory. Essay and poem competition in Nepali language were held for the first time for youths over 13 years of age while paintings/drawings competition for children under 13. Winners were awarded with prizes by the distinguished guests and NCSC executives, advisors and past presidents. Hon'ble Devinder Shory expressed his heartfelt greetings and attachment to Nepali community on the occasion. NCSC President Mr. Jagdish Chapagain welcomed the guests and all the community members and shared New Year greeting. He also expressed sincere thanks to everyone who  worked hard and dedicated the weekend to make this program successful and all those who attended the function. On the occasion, Sultana Assar, Coordinator, Calgary Catholic Immigration Society, expressed best wishes and invited the Nepali community to work together. Similarly, Ms. Marichu Antonio, Executive Director, Ethno-Cultural Council of Calgary, expressed her feelings working with Nepali Community and greeted NCSC on the occasion. Ms. Christine Almiron from the Calgary Public Library organized a fun face painting program for the kids.
