Multicultural Program

The City of Calgary, Heart of the NE Community Resource Center and the Temple Community Association had organized a multicultural programme on Friday, January 30, 2009 at the Temple Community Association. Representing the Nepalese Community Society of Calgary (NCSC), Ms Sahira Poudyal performed a single Nepali cultural dance and Ms. Barsa Bhandari, Ms. Ruska Adhikari, and Ms. Aayuska Adhikari performed a Nepali cultural group dance.  More than 30 members of the NCSC members were present on the occasion.  The organising committee members Ms Joy of the City of Calgary and Mr Ernie Alama of the Heart of The NE Community Resource Center thanked Mr Bharat Regmi, NCSC secretary as well as all the NCSC members present on the occasion for their active participation and helping the organisers to make the programme a success.  The organising members expressed their interest to work together with the NCSC in the near future. Program by South Asian Canadian Association

The South Asian Canadian Association (SACA) in association with the United Way of Calgary put their minds and savings accounts together and organized a New Year program at the Pineridge Community Centre NE on 10th January 2009. The members of the communities of Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka, Maldives and NCSC participated in the program. Dr. Betman Bhandari, President NCSC, gave a short speech about Nepali culture and importance of celebrating the Nepali New Year.  Representing the NCSC, Ms Akshita Regmi and Ms Jasmine Subba performed a Nepali cultural dance, which brought a focal attraction to the audiences and the media at large. Other community members performed Bhangra and Bollywood dances and exhibited magic shows. The program ended by awarding each community representatives with a seal for forging good relations in the multicultural community programmes.   Dr Bhandari received the seal on behalf of the NCSC. Festivals 2066

 

Dashain 2066.  Dashain, the most auspicious festival of Hindus was celebrated by the members of the NCSC amidst a cultural program held at the Marlborough Community Hall on 11th October 2009. The program was attended by over 300 members including guests. The NCSC thanks all members, volunteers, and prize donors for making the event a success.  Please visit Photo gallery to view the pictures.

 

Tihar Festival 2066.  Members of the community and their families celebrated Laxmi Pooja and received well wishes and prayers from their sisters marking Bhai Tika.

 

Teej Festival 2066.  Teej festival was celebrated by the women members of the society on 22 October 2009 at the Centre for Newcomers, Marlborough.  Women dressed in red performed traditional dances, songs and enjoyed specialty foods prepared for the occasion.

 

Stampede Parade.  The NCSC youths took part in the Stampede Parade on 4th July 2008.  The parade was organized by the South Asian Canadian Association (SACA) in Calgary.  Please Click here to view the photos.
